Manzanillo Costa Rica

Manzanillo (mon-zuh-NEE-yoe) is the quiet, laid-back fishing town at the end of the road located 13 km south of Puerto Viejo. Very popular with tourists, locals and nature lovers for its beautiful beaches and atmosphere. The town sits at the entrance of the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge.

The most popular restaurant in Manzanillo is Maxi’s Restaurant, renowned for their Caribbean fare and friendly service the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a drink after you have hiked the refuge.

During Costa Rican holidays and Semana Santa (Holy week) Manzanillo becomes packed with families enjoying the beach and you will hear music pumping out of many car stereos as they enjoy a Costa Rican BBQ on the beach.
